Plans well underway for 2011 Stone Food & Drink Festival

While October may seem a long way off, plans are already well underway for this year’s Stone Food & Drink Festival. Now in its seventh year the 2011 festival will take place from Friday, 30th September – Sunday, 2nd October and is Staffordshire’s biggest celebration of all things gastronomic.

The event is once again being supported by ‘Taste of Staffordshire’ and the focus of the 2011 festival will be to showcase the very best that Staffordshire has to offer – from the best food in the county’s larder through to artisan producers and the region’s star chefs – as Chairman, Richard Stevens, explains:

We’re delighted that ‘Taste of Staffordshire’ is once again our lead sponsor and, as such, have decided to focus very much on Staffordshire and the Midlands as the theme for this year’s events.

“We’ve got some fantastic local producers, farmers, breweries and restaurants and want the 2011 Stone Food & Drink Festival to be a real celebration of this. In fact, the first chefs we’ve got lined up for demonstrations are both local lads – young Jack Taylor who, at 14, is a regular fixture at the festival and always entertains crowd with his unique mix of talent and cheek – and Simon Smith from Thrales Restaurant in Lichfield, whose illustrious career has seen him accumulate many awards; including a coveted Michelin rating for Thrales.”

Over the years, the Stone Food & Drink Festival has attracted both visitors and exhibitors from far and wide to the North Staffordshire market town, with the 2010 festival attracting a record 15,000 visitors over the three days. This year, in addition to the festival’s traditional demonstrations, gourmet marquee, farmers’ market, beer tent, and evening events during festival week, a host of events are planned over the summer with priority given to those who have registered as a ‘Friend of the Festival’ (£15 annual membership including entry over the three days of the festival, priority booking opportunities and exclusive events, competition and offers).
