Cuttlestones launch interactive online auction catalogues

Staffordshire auctioneers & valuers, Cuttlestones, has recently introduced a new online catalogue that will allow potential bidders to browse lots in forthcoming Fine Art and Collectors’ sales on the company’s website; viewing descriptions, multiple images and estimated prices.

The move is part of the Penkridge-based auctioneers’ ongoing expansion strategy, with the goal of developing the firm into one of the Midlands’ leading auction houses. Stafford website design and online systems specialist the Stafford Website Company, which developed Cuttlestones’ dynamic website, project managed the development of the new catalogue; which draws on information held within Cuttlestones’ existing auction management database.

The result is a slick, user-friendly online catalogue that will enhance the experience of Cuttlestones’ growing legion of online bidders, as MD and Head Auctioneer, Ben Gamble, says:

We’ve had an online bidding facility via the-saleroom.com for over 12 months now, and its popularity is growing all the time. In fact, some 40% of all lots in our October Collectors’ sale sold to online bidders; which proved just how important the medium is. The best thing is that we are able to offer International bidders an alternative route to bid other than via the telephone or commission, which can be more convenient and also allows them to bid in ‘real time’ while watching a live, streaming video of the auction.

Added to our extensive PR and marketing strategy, this has seen us attract bids from purchasers as far and wide as the US, Australia, Italy and Germany to name but a few; and really helped boost prices achieved. The development of the online catalogue was a natural progression to provide both these and our more local customers with an even better service; and the feedback so far has been fantastic.

The online catalogue also displays archive results for past sales, while boosting the online promotion of lots in forthcoming sales. To view the catalogues for the recent sales, visit www.cuttlestones.co.uk/auction_catalogues.php.

Cuttlestones’ next Fine Art Sale is set to take place on Friday, 19th November, while consignments are still being taken for its forthcoming 3rd December Collectors’ Sale.
